The Virginia, Maryland, & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC) Education Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships to financially challenged students pursuing higher education.
Scholarship Basics
Each year $1,000 scholarships are awarded to qualified students in Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware.
The Foundation’s board of directors selects recipients based on these weighted criteria:
- Financial need – 40%
- Academic achievement – 40%
- Personal statement – 20%
Funds can be applied towards tuition, student fees, room and board, or textbooks.
Eligibility Requirements
- High school or home-schooled seniors
- Entering their first semester at a post-secondary or technical/trade school
- Living in the service territory of an electric cooperative in Virginia, Maryland, or Delaware
Scholarships Deadlines
- Open date for applications is January 5th
- Application deadline is March 20th
- Award recipients will be notified no later than June 1.
