School Electrical Safety Demonstration

A&N Electric Cooperative's Jackie Phillips began making rounds to local schools to promote electrical safety for students.

Phillips, A&N's Director of Safety, made stops at Tangier Combined School oin May 22 and at Broadwater Academy on May 25.

At each school Phillips explains the need for general safety and uses a table-top model to show students a variety of electrical hazard scenarios. Some of the scenarios include a boy who has climbed onto a transformer to retrieve a soccer ball, a person being electrocuted when their metal pool skimmer comes into contact with an overhead wire, and others.

Phillips also fields questions about electrical safety and the personal protective equipment A&N Electric Cooperative employees use while on the job. He continues to travel to area elementary schools for the safety demonstrations.

May is Electric Safety Month.
