What is a Power Cost Adjustment (PCA)?

The Power Cost Adjustment is a separate line item on each A&N Electric Cooperative bill statement which reflects the increases/decreases in the co-op's cost of power purchased wholesale from Old Dominion Electric Cooperative. The fluctuation in the Power Cost Adjustment is largely caused by changes in the cost of fuel for generation. The cooperative’s PCA is typically adjusted once a year in January but has occasionally been adjusted mid-year due to large fluctuations in the price of fuel for generation.
