A&N Electric Cooperative’s Denny Crockett was on a team of lineworkers from the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives that completed an international project in Guatemala recently.
The United We Light team built lines to energize the village of Santa Isabel.
During the project the volunteer linemen built 4.5 kilometers of primary line, 3 km of secondary line, installed 6 transformers, and completed the service drops for the homes. The linemen were also responsible for doing the internal house wiring for the homes.
The project of Santa Isabel provided power to more than 80 households. Santa Isabel community has a health post and a school to serve the people living in and around the village.
“I would do it all over again,” Crockett said about his experience in Guatemala with the United We Light team.
Crockett has been with the cooperative for more than 14 years. He is a first-class lineman and works primarily on Tangier and Smith islands, which the cooperative serves.
