Co-Op Monitoring Hurricane Erin

A&N Electric Cooperative is monitoring forecasts regarding the storm expected to affect our area currently and later this week. Cooperative personnel will be ready to respond to any weather-related power outages as they arise. The cooperative is urging members to prepare for the possibility of some scattered power outages through the duration the storm.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WAKEFIELD:

Scattered showers are likely, especially near the Chesapeake Bay, and isolated flash flooding is possible due to the slow-moving nature of the showers.

Currently, the National Hurricane Center has Hurricane Erin as a Category 3 hurricane. While the storm is still expected to stay offshore, we are still expecting impacts at the coast from tidal flooding, gusty winds, rip currents, and beach erosion. The strongest winds are currently expected Thursday, with gusts to 40-45 mph at the coast.

Consult National Weather Service Wakefield, VA for the latest information regarding the storm.
