Marketplace Launched to Help Co-op Members Save Money and Energy

Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC), in partnership with its not-for-profit member distribution cooperatives, today announced the launch of the Electric Cooperative Marketplace, an online platform that allows member-consumers to purchase energy-efficient products with instant, automated discounts.

Designed to make energy-saving solutions more accessible and affordable, the Marketplace offers a wide selection of approved products, helping households manage their energy use and monthly expenses.

By combining trusted energy efficiency resources with automatic member discounts, the Marketplace delivers value beyond the meter while helping ODEC’s member cooperatives continue to support long-term affordability and reliability for the communities they serve.

“ODEC works on behalf of its member distribution cooperatives to provide affordable, reliable power,” said Chris Cosby, President and CEO of ODEC. “The Electric Cooperative Marketplace is an extension of that mission, offering members another practical tool to manage their energy use.”

The Marketplace features a wide range of products designed to address common sources of household energy use, including smart thermostats that help reduce unnecessary heating and cooling, energy-efficient LED lighting, smart power strips that cut down on standby energy use, water-saving devices, weatherization products, and ENERGY STAR® certified solutions for home comfort and efficiency. Products are selected to help members save energy, time, and money. These products can be shipped directly to members’ homes, and the prices reflect discounts that lower the overall product price.

ODEC’s energy efficiency programming is a foundational component of delivering reliable and affordable power to members. These discounted energy saving tools help reduce energy consumption, peak demand, and lower costs for members—because the lowest cost megawatt is the one you never have to generate.

“Small energy decisions can make a meaningful difference over time. From how efficiently a home is heated and cooled to lighting choices and everyday electronics, household energy use adds up,” said Alison Kaufmann, VP Member Services and Strategic Electrification of ODEC. “The Electric Cooperative Marketplace is another way we’re helping members make those small changes that lead to meaningful savings.”

The Electric Cooperative Marketplace is now live and available to eligible members through their local electric cooperative. Member-owners of participating electric cooperatives can access the Marketplace by following the link: https://myco-opmarketplace.com/.
