Members Helping Members Fund Drive Begins in December

With the holiday season around the corner, please consider giving to Members Helping Members to assist our neighbors in need.

Members Helping Members Inc. is a community nonprofit organization established to help families and older adults who need assistance paying their
electric bills.

Over 3,400 co-op members are currently contributing more than $3,400 monthly in amounts ranging from under $1, with the program’s roundup option, to as much as $10.

During the December fund drive, any new sign-up or current participating member who increases their donation will be entered into a drawing for a $50 bill credit. A drawing will be held each week of the funding drive.

“If you’re looking for somewhere to start, our ‘Round Up’ option makes it easy to participate,” says Lori Shreaves, A&N Electric Cooperative’s member services director. “This option has a very small impact on those who choose to give.”

Members who are eligible to receive funding from Members Helping Members should contact their county’s Department of Social Services.

A&N Electric Cooperative, in cooperation with Members Helping Members Inc., secures funding with voluntary donations through the cooperative’s electric service
bills. On average, the program assists about 250 A&N members annually.

Members of the cooperative who would like to donate to the program can log onto anec.com and search “Members Helping Members.” Fill out the online form, or speak with one of our member services representatives by calling 757-787-9750. The cooperative will also have a signup table in the Tasley headquarters lobby for the duration of the drive.

Program eligibility requirements are also listed on the cooperative’s website. Donations to the program are tax deductible and 100% of the funding goes to members in need.
