Lighting the Way has assisted with the Foodbank of the Eastern Shore's Food pantry and Backpack programs.
The program serves more than 400 local children twice each month.
Lighting the Way has adopted a section of roadways in the Tasley area for trash pick up through the Virginia Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway program.
So far, cooperative employees have logged nearly 100 volunteer hours.
Employees plan to clean the roadways twice a year.
Lighting the Way, the cooperative’s employee non-profit organization, is building partnerships with USDA and project:Homes to help local co-op members make improvements to their homes, making them safer and more energy efficient.
