As of 8:30 p.m. Friday, cooperative crews were working to restore power for about 90 co-op members experiencing a winter storm-related outage. The majority of those without power were associated with an outage in the Capeville area on the seaside.
Cooperative personnel were also responding to a few individual scattered outages.
Wind gusts are expected to persist through the night and have the potential to create some additional scattered outages. The cooperative will continue to work to restore power to all members affected by Winter Storm Elliott.
Fallen trees and limbs are the main cause of the outages. Please be cautious of downed lines. Please keep a safe distance and report any downed lines to the cooperative (757-787-9750) or 911 immediately. Do not attempt to drive over any downed lines across roadways. Please report the issue and wait for cooperative personnel to safely clear the line.
Cooperative personnel have worked through severe wind and cold to restore power to over 4,000 co-op members since Winter Storm Elliott began passing through the area earlier in the day. Outages have been scattered throughout the cooperative's service territory in Accomack and Northampton.
